20+ Years of Service in Municipal and Regional Government
I truly enjoy family time with Aline, my wife of 15 years, and our rescue beagle, Buster. Together our time is often spent traveling or walking the trails of Waterloo Region while following Buster's nose.
Ultimate (frisbee) is also a large part of my life. In fact, I met Aline while playing in Toronto! I began playing in 1997 and have played competitively in various countries over the years since.
In 2010 I expanded into coaching and governance roles within the sport. During this time I've coached a variety of teams from university level (Go Wilfrid Laurier!) to Team Canada while concurrently heading up local, provincial and national governing bodies culminating with a 4 year term as President of Ultimate Canada.
My combined love for Waterloo and ultimate led me to bring multiple noteworthy events to the city. These were headlined by the 2018 World Junior Ultimate Championships, but also included the 2014 Canadian Ultimate Championships, the 2011 Canadian University Ultimate Championships and 3 editions of the Ontario Ultimate Championships.
Currently, I'm working with the World Flying Disc Federation to help manage their various annual World Ultimate Championship events.
As a public sector leader and transit planner/scheduler, I have over 20 years of experience designing, optimizing, and executing municipal transportation solutions. Throughout my career in local government, I have focused on operational strategy while building efficient, fiscally responsible and community-centered mobility networks. My career spans leadership roles across Canadian municipalities/networks including the City of Kingston, the Region of Waterloo, Halifax Regional Municipality, GO Transit and even the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.
I also founded an independent consulting practice providing specialized urban, transportation and transit planning/scheduling services, with a focus on education within the sector.
I'm currently serving as the Vice President of the Ontario Public Transit Association's Planning and Scheduling Committee.
